Fatis Irwen
The Turkish artist Fatoş Irwen, who is a guest at AIR – ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Lower Austria in September and October, explores themes such as justice, power structures, belief systems and gender politics in her process-based works. In paintings, textile works, installations, photography, films and performances, Irwen reflects on the relationship and dialectic of the individual and society. The transitions between the real, memory, the unconsci-ous and the dreamlike often appear fluid, while the relationship between space and body proves to be ambiva-lent, but also permeable.
