Simone Lappert studied Literary Writing at the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel, she lives and works in Basel and Zürich. Her debut novel Wurfschatten was published in 2014 to great acclaim, her second novel will be published at Diogenes Verlag in autumn 2019, a volume of poems at hochroth München is planned for autumn 2019 as well. Simone Lappert’s work has received numerous grants and awards including work grants and residencies by Pro Helvetia, the Expert Committee on Literature Basel, and the Aargau Board of Trustees, the Newcomer Award of the Wartholz Literature Prize, the Heinz Weder Prize for Poetry, the Lions Art Price, the Award for Young Authors by the Regensburger Schriftstellergruppe, and the literature prize of the Erfurter Herbstlese. Wurfschatten was shortlisted for the zdf-aspekte Price and the Rauriser Literature Price.

Simone Lappert is involved in various art projects in both literary and performative capacities, gives literary tours through exhibitions, such as the Fondation Beyeler, she teaches workshops for adults and children, is President of the Interantional Poetry Festival Basel and the jury of Basler Lyrikpreis, she is a co-founder of the transdisciplinary discussion series Raum für Unsicherheit and co-curator for the poetry project Babelsprech.International.
