Matheus Lima Marques

Matheus' art explores ancestry, spirituality and the African diaspora in Brazil, putting colonial history and its reverberations in the daily lives of racialized people into perspective. He began his work with Pixo language (grafitti), which is heavily influenced by the rap scene in Rio de Janeiro. It addresses issues of epistemological knowledge about African culture.
