Krems an der Donau

Krems is located directly on the banks of the Danube, the second longest river in Europe. It is roughly 80 km from Vienna and
30 km from the state capital, St. Pölten. Nestled amongst vineyards, Krems is one of the oldest cities in the country, and boasts a history that goes back more than a thousand years. The city is the gateway to the Wachau, one of the most beautiful river landscapes in Europe. The old part of town is full of historical buildings, which give it a unique flair. In 2000 Krems and the Wachau region were declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
