Michal Hvorecky
Michal is author and journalist. His fight against anti-democratic structures and for the preservation of a free press is very evident in his literary works.
His novel Trol (Troll, Tropen 2018, translated by Mirko Kraetsch) was very well received by both critics and readers. The story is placed in an Eastern Europe of the near future. An army of trolls rules over the internet – commenting, hounding and stirring up hatred…
In 2021 his novel Tahiti Utopia (Tropen) was published. In 2022 the children’s book Donau. Ein magischer Fluss (Achse Verlag, illustrated by Simona Smatana) followed: A fascinating river cruise turns into an adventure, accompanied by the biggest fish in the river Danube, passing by cities and bustling water birds while leading into the important question of how to preserve and protect this large river.
