Lisa Weeda

Lisa Weeda is a Dutch-Ukrainian writer, literary program maker, screenwriter, audio fan and virtual reality director. Text is the base of her work, but form is free. Ukraine, her grandmother's motherland, is often at the center of her work. Lisa Weeda previously participated in the Slow Writing Lab of the Dutch Foundation for Literature and the Paris residency of deBuren. She wrote and co-directed the VR installation Rozsypne, which was nominated during IDFA 2019 for an award in the category IDFA DOClab competition for Immersive Non-Fiction. At the end of 2021, after the release of her debut novel Aleksandra, she was named literary talent of the year 2022 by Dutch paper de Volkskrant and her novel ended up on the shortlist of the Boekhandelsprijs, Scheltema Book of the Year and the Libris Literatuurprijs 2022. In December 2022 she received the Bronze Owl for the best debut. Alexandra’s translation rights have so far been sold to eight countries, including Germany, Poland and France.

Lisa Weeda is currently working on the book and the performance of the same name Dans Dans Revolutie (“Dance Dance Revolution”). The book will be published in early 2024, the performance will be seen in May 2024 at Theater Bellevue in Amsterdam.
