About

Petra Soukupová was born in Česká Lípa in Czechoslovakia.  Being trained as a dramaturg, she graduated from the film academy FAMU in Prague in 2008. In the previous year her debut K moři was published and was not only awarded with the Jiří-Orten-price for young authors but also nominated for the Czech literature award Magnesia Litera (in the category „prose“). In 2009 Zmizet – a cycle of three short stories – followed and was selected by the Magnesia Litera as the best book of the year. Her books Marta v roce vetřelce and Pod sněhem were equally successful as well as her works as a screenwriter. In addition, she is also writer for children’s literature – as for instance Bertík a čmuchadlo.
